If the candidates for these two

appointments do not hold the D. P. H., then they

can be recruited on the basis of a medical

officer's scale. But if we have candidates who

hold the D. P. H., we shall have the same trouble

in recruiting on the ordinary scale as we have

had in Malaya and we should have to offer more

than the initial salary of a time scale. We

might inform the Governor that ? in this latter

event we propose to offer, if necessary, a salary

up to £790 p.a., i.e. on the basis of two added

increments.
